Artist
America Ibarra
Mexico
Based in Baja California Sur, Mexico
America Ibarra's work is born of curiosity, an exploration of materials, and a need to transform the everyday into new forms of expression. Her practice moves between painting, collage, embroidered photography, and the intervention of a range of materials, objects, and surfaces.
At the heart of her artistic language is line art: a face that emerges from a single continuous line and that, over time, has found many different places to live. The line travels from paper to wood, ceramics, and other materials, exploring different textures, formats, and possibilities. Even when she works in abstraction, there is always the intention to bring in an element, a form, or a surface that transforms the piece and opens up a different dialogue.
"The line is my language; the material is the territory where that line lives."
America Ibarra is a Mexican artist whose work is in constant evolution.
