Tutto3: The Pencil That Started It All
An idea from the drawing table
Every artist knows the routine: one pencil for fine lines, another for shading, a third for bold strokes, and a desk slowly filling up with tools. Leonardo Pereznieto, an artist and a member of the Otero family, wanted something simpler: one pencil that could do it all.
That idea became Tutto3, a mechanical pencil that holds three lead sizes, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 mm, in a single body, with a gravity-based mechanism for switching between them. It was designed by an artist, around the way artists actually draw.
Built by artists, backed by artists
O Art International took Tutto3 to Indiegogo in the spring of 2016. The campaign ran from 11 April to 10 June with a goal of $35,000. By the time it closed, 1,074 backers had pledged $61,979, more than 175% of the goal. You can still see the original Tutto3 campaign on Indiegogo.
For a young company with a simple idea, that was the proof it needed. When artists build something for artists, other artists show up.
For artists, by artists
Tutto3 was our first launch, a year after the Otero family first dreamed of an online home for artists from all around the world. It set the tone for everything that followed. "For artists, by artists" is not a slogan we came up with later. It is how we started.
The same idea guides the gallery today: find great artists, give them a platform, and let the work speak. Because good art is art itself.
